Peckar & Abramson, P.C. (P&A) is pleased to announce that Courtney Bryan Sheaffer has joined the firm’s Houston office as an Associate.
Sheaffer focuses her practice on Labor & Employment disputes as well as commercial litigation. Her experience includes representation of clients across various industries including commercial real estate developers, construction companies, oil & gas service providers and equipment manufacturers, power supply manufacturers, logistics companies, grocery store chains, employee staffing companies, restaurants, concert venues and special events companies. Before joining Peckar & Abramson, Sheaffer was an Associate with Stibbs & Co., P.C. in Spring, TX.
Sheaffer’s Labor & Employment experience includes representation of employers in cases involving sexual harassment, race, religion, gender, age and disability discrimination, wage and hour class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), breaches of non-solicitation and non-compete agreements, misappropriation of confidential information and trade secrets. She also provides advisory counsel on compliance with State and Federal regulations and statutory laws and the preparation of various employment agreements.
Additionally, Sheaffer represents clients in commercial litigation including contract disputes, breach of warranty, premises liability and defective product defense, responsible third-party defense, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, collections, fraud, defamation and business disparagement.
Active in the community, Sheaffer is the current President of The Woodlands Bar Association; a member of the Junior League of Houston and is the Head Active for the Houston Food Bank, Kids’ Meals and Reach Out & Read; a Leadership Montgomery County graduate of the Class of 2014 and Assistant Chairman of Education. Other memberships include The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce-Young Professionals Network, State Bar of Texas, Women’s Executive Alliance of The Woodlands, Women’s Energy Network and LSU Alumni Association of the Greater Houston Area.
Sheaffer is admitted to practice in Texas, Louisiana, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas and Northern District of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Firth Circuit and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Magna Cum Laude, from Louisiana Tech University and a Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.
