NEW ORLEANS, LA—Christopher M. Hannan of Baker Donelson has earned a Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Law of Data Security & Investigations (GLEG) certification.

GIAC is a certification body featuring more than 30 hands-on, technical certifications in information security. GIAC has certified more than 85,000 IT security professionals since it was founded in 1999. The GLEG certification validates a practitioner’s knowledge of the law regarding electronically stored and transmitted records. GLEG certification holders have demonstrated knowledge of the law of fraud, crime, policy, contracts, liability, IT security and active defense.

A shareholder in Baker Donelson’s New Orleans office, Mr. Hannan concentrates his practice in admiralty and maritime law and is a member of the Firm’s Marine and Energy Industry Service Team. He has significant experience in a variety of areas involving insurance defense and personal injury claims, both inland and offshore marine concerns, as well as the onshore and offshore energy industries. He also has extensive experience providing contract and regulatory advice for maritime and offshore industry clients, with a focus on U.S. Coast Guard compliance issues (including coastwise trade concerns), indemnity, insurance and additional insured issues, as well as representation in maritime commercial disputes, including maritime lien issues and anti-indemnity act concerns.
