DALLAS, TX—For their efforts toward raising $1.3 million for access to justice, the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program’s (DVAP) Equal Access to Justice Campaign Co-Chairs have received the 2021 ALM Corporate Counsel Award for Outstanding Community Service.

The 2020-2021 Co-Chairs include: Vicki Blanton, of AT&T; Meyling Ortiz, of Toyota of North America; Rocio Cristina Garcia Espinoza, of Rosewood Property Co.; and honorary chair Jeff Melucci, of Kimberly-Clark.

During a very tough year, the Campaign leadership hosted a variety of virtual events, reached out personally to numerous donors, and hosted a few in-person fundraising events. Through their efforts, they led the Equal Access to Justice Campaign to a total donation of $1,313,393 and increased the number of donors by 57 percent from the previous year.

The Equal Access to Justice Campaign, co-sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, is an annual fundraising drive which connects with local lawyers, law firms, corporations, and the community to seek critical funds to support DVAP’s efforts to provide civil legal aid to low-income people in the Dallas community.
