Eric Hockman, a Partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, has been elected Treasurer for the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA) by the Board of Directors. The DCBA is the largest voluntary bar association in Florida, and provides the contacts and services to its members to ensure their success. Its mission is to promote equal justice, professionalism and civility, and excellence and respect for the law.
Hockman has served on the Dade County Bar Association Board as a Director since 2012. He also serves as co-chair of the Government Relations Committee and as a member of several other committees. “We are proud that Eric continues to take a leadership role in the legal community,” said Joseph H. Serota, firm co-founder and former President of the Dade Bar Association. “The DCBA, like any large organization, needs committed volunteers like Eric, and we know he will do an outstanding job in his role as the new treasurer.”
The DCBA Board of Directors elected Hockman when the treasurer position became vacant. “I am humbled by the faith that my fellow Directors have in me to fill this important role,” said Hockman. “The DCBA Board is filled with talented and dedicated individuals. To be chosen by that group to perform the Treasurer duties is a genuine honor.”
Hockman’s practice focuses on complex business, commercial, municipal/governmental, software, cyber-security and information technology litigation before Federal and State courts, as well as mediation and arbitration.
He earned his Juris Doctor from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota where he graduated magna cum laude. In addition to his law degree, he also holds degrees in Aeronautical Science as well as Aviation Technology, and is an experienced pilot and a former flight instructor.
