Event Details
Law Rocks returns to the DMV area for the Seventh Annual Law Rocks Washington DC on Thursday, September, 22, 2022. The event kicks off the fall leg of the 2022 tour and a return to the busiest touring schedule Law Rocks has seen since 2019.
Each of the eight bands features musically talented members of the DMV legal community. The 2022 lineup includes five veteran bands, including two former champions, as well as three brand new to Law Rocks, with 23 firms represented. The event will take place at the acclaimed 9:30 Club.
Made possible by tour sponsors LawPay and Secretariat, as well as Hall of Fame sponsor, Venable, the event has raised over $55,000 three weeks out. Additional sponsors include Truist Wealth; Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh; Wilkinson Barker Knauer; Willkie Farr & Gallagher; Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Shulman Rogers; Somos; Stoneturn; and Wireless Infrastructure Association.
The winning band will be selected by three factors: total raised in donations, sponsorships, and ticket sales and Rock Panel of Judges score. There will also be special recognition for the band with the highest marks from the Rock Panel of Judges. The Rock Panel includes Cathy Applefeld Olson, a veteran music, entertainment and culture journalist and event producer; Eric Liley, Executive Director and CEO for The Musicianship, a youth development organization that offers a wide range of music education programs; Evan Moses, a trademark lawyer, the founder of the local community concert series “Live in Rose Park,” and most notably, a four-time Law Rocks veteran and former Judge’s Choice award winner with his band Rock Creek Kings; Kevin de Souza, the songwriter behind the confusingly-named, grownup-staffed rock band Uptown Boys Choir, as well as a busy freelance bassist and bandleader; Devon Engel, Vice President and General Counsel of General Dynamics Mission Systems, bass player for Scottsdale cover band, Retro-Active and Law Rocks Board member; and Zeke Roeser, a trial lawyer and the principal of Roeser Law Firm, born to classic rock royalty. The event will be hosted by Daniel Bauman, native Washingtonian, community activist, real estate executive, and music lover.
Each participating band has selected a nonprofit to rock (and fundraise) for. Chosen organizations include BlueCheck Ukraine, Central Union Mission, DC Bar Pro Bono Center, Gifts for the Homeless, HomeAid Northern Virginia, Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia, Miriam’s Kitchen, and Together We Bake.
The concert features legal professionals from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld; Antonin Scalia Law School; Berke Farah; Deltek; Gordon & Rees; Interactive Brokers; Library of Congress Law Library; McGuire Woods; Meta; Platinum Advisors; Shulman Rogers; Somos; The Law Offices of Alan Tilles; Truist Wealth; U.S. Government; USTelecom; Venable; Verizon; Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley, & Walsh; Willkie Farr & Gallagher; and Wireless Infrastructure Association.
