In this CLE program, we look back at the history and development of Arizona’s non-lawyer owned “Alternative Business Structure” law firms (“ABSs”) over the past two years and ask the questions: Have Arizona’s ABSs lived up to their aspirational purposes of improving access to justice and to encourage innovation in the delivery of legal services? Can more people now access affordable legal services? Can more individuals and families get legal advice and help? Has there been business innovation in providing legal services at affordable prices? What does the future bode for ABSs in Arizona? What do current ABSs expect and intend to do differently from traditional law firms to meet the above aspirational goals?
For more information on ABS licensing and formation please view the State Bar of Arizona online CLE Program The Nuts and Bolts of Arizona ABS Licensing: Ethics and Application Tips.
All attendees are encouraged to pre-read the October 4, 2019 report of the Arizona Supreme Court’s Task Force on the Delivery of Legal Services to provide a context for this program.
