Hayden P. O’Byrne, an associate with the Miami office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP, has been elected Chairman of the Florida Eleventh Circuit Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. He will serve a one-year term.
The Commission provides the Governor of Florida with 3-6 qualified nominees when judicial vacancies arise, from which the Governor selects a new judge. As the most active judicial nominating commission in the state of Florida, it vets and nominates candidates for all trial judge vacancies in Miami-Dade County, the seventh-most populous county in the United States.
The Eleventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is in the process of interviewing applicants for three separate trial court vacancies and currently soliciting applicants to fill two more trial court vacancies.
O’Byrne focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and disputes, including deceptive trade practices and unfair competition claims, products liability matters and all manner of commercial disputes. He was appointed by Florida Governor Rick Scott to the Florida Eleventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission and began his term in January 2017.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law.
