NATIONAL— The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has elected James F. Rogers, a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Columbia, South Carolina, as a new member of the IADC Board of Directors for 2020-21. The election was announced at the IADC’s 2020 Annual Meeting. The IADC is the preeminent invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.
An IADC member for 14 years, Rogers is a member and former chair of the organization’s Drug, Device and Biotechnology Committee. He also is a member of other IADC committees, including Alternative Dispute Resolution and Trial Techniques and Tactics. In addition, he was a member of the faculty in 2015 at the IADC’s Trial Academy held annually at Stanford Law School.
Rogers practices in the areas of product liability, commercial litigation, and consumer fraud actions. He primarily has been engaged in the defense of pharmaceutical and medical device companies since 1991. His wide-ranging trial experience includes serving as first chair.
In addition to his involvement with the IADC, Rogers has chaired DRI’s Drug and Medical Device Committee. He has been recognized in “Best Lawyers in America” for Mass Tort/Class Actions (2013-2019), including “Best of the Year” in this category in 2015. He also has been named a “South Carolina Super Lawyers” (2013-2019).
Rogers received his J.D. (cum laude) from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his Bachelor of Science (cum laude) from the University of South Carolina.
