Judge Shapiro Gives WMU-Cooley Law School Students Advice

LANSING, MI—The Hon. Douglas Shapiro, Michigan Court of Appeals-Third District, was the guest speaker during the lunch and learn series at WMU-Cooley Law School’s Lansing campus on Oct. 24.

Hosted by WMU-Cooley’s Moot Court and the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, Judge Shapiro gave a brief overview of moot court and explained to students what to expect during Moot Court competitions. He also offered advice to student on how to be best prepared when presenting their case in Moot Court. Judge Shapiro explained to students that before presenting a case in court, it’s important to brainstorm possible rebuttal points and questions – especially the ones they hope aren’t asked – prepare answers, and rehearse in front of someone.
