PHOENIX, AZ—Employees of the Phoenix law firm Jaburg Wilk supported the Black and Brown Toy Drive by collecting unwrapped toys for minority children. They collected dolls, action figures, books, and building kits that feature characters and stories of color. Started several years ago by Jaburg Wilk partner, Alejandro Perez, and some of his friends, these toys are distributed to marginalized children through community outreach, Title I schools, and hospitals.
“It is important for children to see themselves reflected in their toys” said Perez. “Providing a child with a toy that reflects who they are helps build self-esteem and allows the child to know he or she is valid. With the COVID pandemic it has been harder to collect and distribute the toys this year. Nevertheless, we are overwhelmed with the support and excitement we received from the community and Jaburg Wilk.”
