Morris, a tax partner in the firm’s Corporate Department, served as a panelist in the Boston Bar Association (BBA) webinar, “Privilege in Tax: Practical Implications of Attorney-Client, Work Product, and Tax Practitioner Privileges,” on January 20, 2021.
The program addressed the practical applications of attorney-client privilege, work product doctrine, and IRC section 7525 tax practitioner privilege. After discussing the standards and limitations of each privilege as interpreted by federal and Massachusetts courts, Morris and fellow panelists provided practical guidance for preserving confidentiality when working with clients’ in-house counsel, tax advisors, and third parties with common interests.
