CHARLOTTE, NC—Moore & Van Allen PLLC is pleased to announce that Mary Katherine Stukes has joined the Firm’s Litigation Group. Stukes joined the Firm as a Member and will serve as the Co-Head of the Firm’s Environmental Practice. A highly regarded environmental lawyer, Stukes advises manufacturing, real estate, financial services, and commercial clients on environmental issues in all types of business transactions and represents a wide variety of clients in environmental litigation, permitting, regulatory compliance, and remediation issues.
At Moore & Van Allen, Stukes will assist developers, nonprofits, and governmental entities through the process of obtaining Brownfields agreements for redevelopment of contaminated properties. In that role, she will guide clients through negotiations with environmental regulatory bodies and issues regarding eligibility, assessment, tax benefits, and effective structuring of associated real estate and financing transactions.
Stukes’ active pro bono and public service work will further bolster the Firm’s long-standing commitment to serving vulnerable clients and important causes. She represents abused and neglected children through North Carolina’s Guardian ad Litem program, and she helps pro bono clients expunge criminal records.
