PHILADELPHIA, PA—Pond Lehocky Giordano is pleased to announce the recipient of its annual scholarship. This year’s recipient of the $5,000 award is the son of a local union carpenter, Aidan Blakla.
Blakla shared in his essay and video about the struggles he and has family faced when he was born with several heart defects. Blakla had multiple open-heart surgeries before he was 2 years old, and more as a child. When his father got hurt on the job, the family struggled to pay both medical bills and keep food on the table. They turned to Pond Lehocky Giordano for help.
After overcoming many hardships and winning their workers’ compensation case, Blakla is now 19 years old and is heading into his second year at Holy Family University in Pennsylvania, pursuing a degree in radiologic sciences.
Pond Lehocky Giordano Annual Scholarship aids the friends, family members and colleagues of injured workers in the pursuit of higher education.
