RALEIGH, N.C.—Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce the addition of our Education Law Practice Group to the firm. The practice group, comprised of nine attorneys with a variety of expertise, includes partners Katie Cornetto, Rachel Hitch, Brandon McPherson, and Brian Shaw, of counsel Laura Crumpler, and associates Dr. Amy Clay, Rachel Nicholas, Grace Sykes, and Rebecca Williams. Each will work out of the firm’s Raleigh office, but plan to spend time in our Rocky Mount and Charlotte offices. The team, which all comes from Schwartz & Shaw in Raleigh, will arrive in two groups, one on October 15 and the second on November 1.
The new Education Law Practice Group is experienced in all facets of education law. The team has served schools across the state and includes attorneys with decades of experience advising and representing local boards of education. In addition, the team has a comprehensive understanding of all matters relating to the School Budget and Fiscal Control Act, federal and state pass-through or matching funding programs (e.g. – Title I, vocational funds, exceptional children’s funds), and other aspects relating to finance and accounting.
