LOS ANGELES—Former Cravath Senior Executive and Brownstein Hyatt Chief Operating Officer to Focus on the Business of the Firm. Ropers Majeski, a multi-service law firm offering litigation and transactional services nationally and internationally, has appointed Steven Spiess as its new chief executive officer. He is the first CEO in the firm’s 69-year history and will be based in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
“Steve is a leader in the legal industry and brings tremendous knowledge, insight and energy to Ropers Majeski,” said Chairman Michael Ioannou. “Heading up our leadership team, he will focus on the business of the business, including building new strategic models as we continue our steep growth trajectory.”
For nearly 25 years, Spiess was with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York, where he was the firm’s executive director for 13 of those years. Most recently, he was the chief operating officer at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck in Denver.

Passionate about the arts, Spiess sits on the board of directors for the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and the Business Committee for the Arts. He is vice president of Americans for the Arts and previously served nine years as its board chair. Spiess is a graduate of Pace University’s Lubin School of Business (B.B.A., summa cum laude, 1986).
