MINNEAPOLIS, MN—SiebenCarey and Newmark Storms Dworak today filed a federal medical malpractice lawsuit in United States District Court, District of Minnesota, against Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and Dr. Janice D. Tandler. The legal filing comes after the October 27, 2017 overdose death of Riley Weinkauf, who was receiving treatment at Hazelden’s Center City, Minn., location.
Riley Weinkauf was a 28-year-old man, who sustained an overdose and died while admitted to inpatient chemical dependency treatment at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Riley was admitted to Hazelden on October 20, 2017 and died on October 27, 2017. The lawsuit alleges that Hazelden and its staff fell far below its reputation and the medical standard of care. The purpose of this lawsuit is to further uncover and obtain accountability for these failures, and to ensure no family endures the heartbreak the Weinkauf’s have experienced.
