DALLAS, TX—Carstens & Cahoon, a full-service intellectual property law firm based in Dallas, Texas, is pleased to add Stephen Liu as its newest partner. Liu started his law practice with Carstens & Cahoon and is returning after a short stint with another law firm.
Liu’s practice focuses on all areas of patent law, including prosecution, litigation and counseling, as well as trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Throughout his career, he has represented clients ranging in size from multi-national corporations to sole proprietors.
Liu received his law degree from Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the International Law Review and a student attorney in the Civil Clinic, representing indigent clients. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where he conducted graduate-level research in the field of cell and tissue engineering. Liu later went on to earn a second baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas.
