INDIANAPOLIS, IN—Taft Law has appointed Monica Fennell as the firm’s first Pro Bono Director. Fennell is based in Taft’s Indianapolis office and starts Jan. 5, 2021.
As Pro Bono Director at Taft, Fennell is responsible for maximizing ways for Taft attorneys to provide pro bono legal service in a manner that is consistent with Taft’s commitment to improve the communities it serves, and that enhances the personal and professional development objectives of Taft’s attorneys and professionals.
Fennell brings to Taft very significant experience leading pro bono activity, having served in pro bono leadership positions since 2003. Most recently, she was part of a team that managed a firm’s pro bono program and led pro bono activity at five of the firm’s offices, including over 400 attorneys. Prior to that Fennell served as the executive director of the Indiana Pro Bono Commission and was a Fellow at the Supreme Court of the United States.
Fennell earned a B.A., cum laude, from Williams College and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. She also has a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies as a Rotary Peace Fellow from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
