BIRMINGHAM, AL—In recognition of the importance of greater inclusion in the legal industry, Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC has launched a new annual diversity scholarship. The firm will award $10,000 and a summer clerkship in Birmingham to a promising law student enrolled in an American law school. The firm will accept applications for the 2021 scholarship from January 1 through March 1.
“As a firm, we are committed to ensuring our firm hires and develops talented lawyers from diverse backgrounds,” said managing partner Melody Eagan. “This is a core principle at Lightfoot and a crucial task for the entire legal profession. We see the scholarship as one of a number of tangible ways in which our firm can contribute.”
In pairing the scholarship with a summer clerkship, Lightfoot hopes to provide the recipient with an understanding of what it’s like to work at a leading litigation boutique. The firm’s unique, hands-on program allows participants to engage with the day-to-day experience of the life of a trial lawyer, including the opportunity to work on client matters and learn from some of the most experienced trial lawyers in the country.
