DETROIT, MI—JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce the addition of James M. Alexander, Retired Judge, Oakland County (Michigan) Circuit Court to its panel in Detroit. Prior to joining JAMS, Judge Alexander served for nearly 20 years in the Oakland County Circuit Court, including a nine-year tenure in the Family Court, where he served a term as presiding judge. Judge Alexander is one of only five Oakland County jurists to have served in each of the court’s branches.
Based in the Detroit Resolution Center, Judge Alexander will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and special master/referee, handling disputes in business and commercial, construction, employment, family law, government and public agency, and professional liability.
Judge Alexander is perhaps best known for his service on Oakland County’s Business Court since its inception in 2013. A model for business courts throughout Michigan and the nation, the court strives to enhance access to and the efficiency of dispute resolution mechanisms, working with community stakeholders to refine process improvements.
Judge Alexander received his B.A. from Miami (Ohio) University and his J.D. from the University of Detroit School of Law.
