Jan Baran Joins Holtzman Vogel Josefiak Torchinsky

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Holtzman Vogel Josefiak Torchinsky, PLLC (HVJT) – a leading law firm that serves a diverse client base of prominent companies, non-profits, individuals, and campaigns – announced today that Jan W. Baran has joined the firm as Partner.

For over forty years, Baran has specialized in the laws that regulate political activity and lobbying including the Federal Election Campaign Act, the Lobbying Disclosure Act, the Ethics in Government Act, as well as related federal, state and local laws. He represents clients before federal and state courts, the Federal Election Commission (FEC), congressional ethics committees and comparable state agencies. He has appeared in numerous First Amendment cases before the Supreme Court of the United States and is a frequent legal commentator on television, radio, cable, and in the print press. His commentaries have been published in law journals as well as the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today. He served as a legal analyst for ABC News during the 2000 Florida presidential election recount. Jan is the author of The Election Law Primer for Corporations, now in its Sixth Edition, published by the American Bar Association.

Jan received his Juris Doctor degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was a Patrick Wilson Scholar, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he currently serves as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees.
