Meet Charles E. Lavis, Jr.
Charles E. Lavis, Jr. is the founder and managing shareholder of Lavis Law Firm - Personal Injury & Accident Attorney, APLC. A New Orleans native, he opened his first law office in 1995 and has spent three decades representing injured workers, accident victims, consumers, and homeowners against insurance companies and corporate defendants.
Charles earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1987 and his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans in 1994. Admitted to the Louisiana bar in 1994, he practices before the Louisiana Supreme Court and all state and federal courts in Louisiana.
His practice covers car, truck, and rideshare accidents; slip-and-fall and premises liability; wrongful death and survival actions; Louisiana workers' compensation; maritime and longshore claims under the Jones Act, the LHWCA, FELA, and the Defense Base Act; products liability; and first-party insurance disputes including hurricane, fire, and flood claims.
Charles holds the Advocate designation from the American Association for Justice National College of Advocacy and a Diploma in Trial Advocacy Skills from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He is a member of the Louisiana Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Workers Injury & Advocacy Group, the New Orleans Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and United Policyholders.
