David J. Cohen

David J. Cohen, Esq. is the founding attorney of Cohen & Patel Law Firm, PLLC in Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he represents clients in criminal defense, DUI, and family law matters across Montgomery, Berks, Bucks, and Chester Counties. Born and raised in Philadelphia, David brings a background few defense attorneys can match: six years in the Army National Guard as a Mechanized Infantry Soldier and five years as a Philadelphia Police Officer before entering the law. He earned his LL.M. in Trial Advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he received the Edward D. Ohlbaum Award for Commitment to the Art of Trial Advocacy, along with his J.D. from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School and an M.B.A. from Eastern University. Having served as both a Special Assistant Public Defender in Montgomery County and a Special Assistant Prosecutor in the Chester County District Attorney's Office, David knows how both sides build a case — an advantage he puts to work for every client. He is also a longtime pro bono child advocate with the Montgomery Child Advocacy Project, serving as guardian ad litem for abused and neglected children. David is admitted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and is known for the kind of aggressive pre-trial investigation and motion practice that has produced repeated dismissals and reductions for his clients.
