Meet Eric Blankenship
Eric Blankenship is the founder and managing attorney of Blankenship Law, LLC, a criminal defense firm with offices in Carmel and Valparaiso, Indiana. Before opening his practice, he spent 17 years as a prosecutor and tried well over 100 court and jury trials involving everything from OWI and drug offenses to robbery, sex crimes and homicide.
Eric began his career in 2002 as a deputy prosecutor in Hamilton County. He started in the screening department, deciding which charges to file, and advanced quickly to the Superior Courts and then the major felony courts. He was then recruited by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and placed directly into its Major Felony Division. Within a year he was promoted to Major Felony Supervisor, overseeing four felony courts. He was later appointed Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Blackford County.
Over those years, Eric came to see that most people charged with crimes aren’t bad people. They are people who made a mistake, acted in a moment of anger, or are struggling with addiction. Prosecutors see the police report, but rarely the accused person’s side of the story. He founded Blankenship Law to tell that side. He now uses his insider knowledge of how the State builds its cases to challenge evidence, negotiate reductions and dismissals, and protect his clients’ jobs, families and futures.
