Meet Jesse Nix
Conyers & Nix provides aggressive criminal defense representation throughout Utah, focusing on protecting the rights of individuals facing charges ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. The firm believes that every person deserves the strongest possible defense, regardless of the allegations against them. With nearly two decades of experience handling criminal cases across Utah's court system, the practice combines thorough legal knowledge with a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for clients.
Founder Jesse Nix begun his legal career with the Salt Lake District Attorney in 2008 before joining the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association in 2012. His transition from prosecution to defense was driven by a fundamental belief that protecting the accused from wrongful conviction matters more than securing convictions. At the LDA, Jesse excelled at achieving excellent results even while managing one of the highest caseloads of any attorney. Recognizing his legal skills and teaching ability, he became the organization's intern coordinator, training law students from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University in criminal defense practice.
Jesse's legal expertise has earned recognition beyond his defense work as he was nominated to serve as a Judge in Salt Lake City Justice Court, and Utah Governor Gary Herbert appointed him to Utah's Third District Judicial Nominating Commission, where he interviews lawyers applying for trial judge positions.
Conyers & Nix understands that criminal charges create uncertainty and fear about the future. The firm guides clients through every stage of the legal process, from initial arrest through trial if necessary. This includes explaining potential penalties, reviewing evidence for accuracy, challenging unlawful searches or arrests, negotiating favorable plea agreements, and developing trial strategies when cases proceed to court. The practice also advises clients on long-term consequences of convictions, including impacts on employment, housing, and professional licenses.
