Jim Gitkin

James "Jim" P. Gitkin is a trusted personal injury attorney in Hollywood, Florida, and a co-founder of Salpeter Gitkin, LLP, where he serves as a partner and principal. Since founding the firm in 2008, Jim has led the Personal Injury Department, representing injured individuals in a wide range of matters, including car accidents, premises liability claims, cruise ship accidents, negligent security, medical malpractice, products liability, mass torts, and wrongful death. A trial lawyer by training, Jim began his legal career at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office, advocating for indigent clients in courtrooms across South Florida. He later transitioned into civil litigation at prominent South Florida boutique firms before co-founding Salpeter Gitkin, LLP. Jim has litigated cases throughout Florida, including appeals in Florida’s appellate courts, and regularly represents clients in Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, and across Broward County. 

In addition to his personal injury practice, Jim serves as litigation counsel and advisor in insurance disputes, employment matters, consumer protection cases, commercial litigation, whistleblower claims, and class actions. His practice extends nationally and internationally, with clients and co-counsel relationships spanning New York, New Jersey, California, Canada, the United Kingdom, Asia, and South America. Jim earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, where he was a member of the International Moot Court Board and Team. He is licensed to practice before all Florida state and federal courts and is an active member of leading trial lawyer organizations. Jim resides in Weston, Florida, with his family and remains deeply involved in the South Florida community.
