Meet Justin Kimball
Justin Kimball is a personal injury lawyer and the Managing Partner of Preszler Injury Lawyers in Nova Scotia. Licensed in both Nova Scotia and Ontario, he represents people who have suffered serious injuries in motor vehicle accidents, from defective products, and on hazardous premises.
Justin grew up in Loch Katrine, Nova Scotia. He earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political Science from Acadia University in 1992 and graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1995.
He has practised at two large Halifax firms and built substantial experience in chronic pain and brain injury cases within complex multi-party litigation and ADR proceedings, along with insurance coverage disputes, uninsured automobile claims, and policy limits issues. Earlier in his career he advocated for clients before the Workers' Compensation Board of Nova Scotia and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal.
The most useful part of his background may be the years he spent on the other side. Justin has acted for a number of large insurance companies, which means he knows how they evaluate a file, where they push, and what they are actually trying to accomplish when they make an offer. He now uses that knowledge against them.
He describes his own role plainly: clients should focus on their recovery while he handles the insurer across the table and, when necessary, in court. He prides himself on being a strong negotiator and advocate while looking for opportunities to build consensus and resolve disputes practically.
Justin has appeared before the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal, the Small Claims Court, and the Provincial Court. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society — and, less conventionally, the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers.
