Meet Mark Skapik
Mark J. Skapik is the founder of the firm and a seasoned litigator with extensive trial and appellate experience in both state and federal courts. Since becoming licensed in 1993, he has devoted his practice to protecting the rights of individuals and holding public and private entities accountable for misconduct. His work spans complex civil rights litigation — including police misconduct, excessive force, wrongful arrest, and other §1983 violations — as well as a robust employment law practice addressing wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination, wage and hour claims, and Fair Housing Act matters.
Mr. Skapik graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and earned his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law. Before entering the legal field, he worked as an engineer in mechanical design, manufacturing, quality control, and product sales. This technical and business background gives him a unique ability to understand complex factual issues, evaluate evidence, and communicate effectively with experts — all of which strengthen his advocacy in high-stakes litigation.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Skapik has handled a wide array of cases, including government claims, class actions, construction defect litigation, medical malpractice, product liability, and insurance fraud matters. In recent years, he has placed a significant emphasis on civil rights and police misconduct litigation, as well as employment-related class actions and education-related cases brought under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
His team secured a notable victory in a Qui Tam False Claims Act case, recovering $11 million on behalf of the federal government — a testament to his strategic insight and relentless pursuit of justice.
As the owner of his firm, Mr. Skapik is committed to understanding each client’s goals and delivering practical, cost-effective solutions. He is known for his creative, “outside-the-box” approach to case strategy and offers both fixed and variable fee structures tailored to client needs.
Mr. Skapik is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to practice in all California state and federal courts.
