Meet Roger Zhang
Roger Zhang is a Calgary employment lawyer and the founder, principal, and managing lawyer of TZ Law, a boutique firm serving clients across Alberta and British Columbia. He is dual-qualified — licensed in both provinces — and has recovered millions of dollars in severance on behalf of his clients.
Roger earned his law degree at the University of Calgary. Before founding TZ Law in 2024, he practised at a boutique employment firm in Calgary, a leading mid-size full-service firm, Canada's largest national plaintiff-side employment litigation firm, and a global firm where he handled complex litigation. That path gave him the view from both sides of a workplace dispute, and it is why he acts for employers and employees alike.
His practice covers wrongful and constructive dismissal, workplace bullying and harassment, human rights complaints, and workplace privacy. He has broad experience in employment litigation and has appeared in courts at all levels in both Alberta and B.C.
Privacy is where his practice diverges from most employment lawyers. Roger holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional – Canada (CIPP/C) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and advises on employee data handling, employee monitoring, compliance with privacy legislation, and access to personal information held by public bodies — questions that arrive with almost every modern termination file and that most counsel are not equipped to answer.
He is fluent in Mandarin and provides full legal services in the language.
For employees facing a termination and employers building a defensible workplace in Alberta or B.C., TZ Law offers a consultation.
