Meet Shari Sukaram
Shari Sukaram is a criminal defense attorney and founding partner of Ahmed & Sukaram, Criminal Defense Attorneys, serving clients in San Jose and Redwood City, California. The eldest of four children, raised by a teenage mother and an immigrant father, she learned early on what it meant to take on responsibility and stand up for others. Having seen people close to her caught up in the legal system, she decided from a young age to become a criminal defense attorney dedicated to protecting and fighting for the rights of others.
She earned her B.A. in Political Science, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of California, San Diego, and received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 2007. She served as a certified legal intern for the District Attorney's Offices of Alameda and Santa Clara Counties, and interned with the San Diego Unified School District's Office of the General Counsel.
Shari represents clients facing charges including DUI, domestic violence, drug crimes, sex crimes, theft, and other violent crimes, as well as juvenile delinquency matters. Her goal is to be a zealous advocate who is also sympathetic to the emotional toll the legal process takes on clients and their loved ones. She firmly believes that every individual, even those who've made mistakes, deserves a real chance to get back on track.
Outside of work, Shari is happiest being a wife and mother, spending time at the beach, traveling, cooking, and enjoying time with her family and pets.
