Meet V. Joy Edwards
Attorney V. Joy Edwards is the founder of The Edwards Law Group, the oldest Black-owned, female-led family law firm in Cobb County — and one of Georgia's most formidable family law advocates. With over 20 years of courtroom experience, Joy has built a reputation that commands respect on both sides of the bench across the entire state.
Her edge comes from something no law school can teach: she knows the players. Having worked as Staff Attorney for judges in Cobb County State Court, Joy gained rare, inside insight into how judicial decisions are made, what judges value, and the unspoken dynamics that shape outcomes. She has worked alongside, and against most family law attorneys in Georgia. She knows their strategies, their tendencies, and exactly how to counter them. That institutional knowledge becomes your strategic advantage.
In addition to her courtroom standing, Joy serves as a Board Member of the Stonewall Bar Association, is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia's Family Law Section, and previously served as President of the Cobb County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section, a recognition of her leadership within the legal community.
Joy's story begins in Jamaica, where she sharpened her voice and competitive edge on the national debate team. That fire carried her to Rutgers University School of Law (1999) and into a career built on breaking barriers, starting as a solo practitioner and growing The Edwards Law Group into a trusted team serving the Atlanta metro area and beyond.
For clients, choosing V. Joy Edwards means choosing an attorney who combines aggressive litigation with genuine compassion, someone who protects your parental rights, safeguards your assets, and fights relentlessly for your family's future. Whether negotiating a fair settlement or going to trial, Joy brings the experience, relationships, and determination necessary to secure the outcome you and your family deserve.
