Divorce and family lawyer Christa D. Banfield joined Stewart Law Group as an associate attorney in 2018. Banfield has a BS in Supply Chain Management from ASU's W.P. Carey School of Business (2003). She earned her JD at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law (2010) where she completed the enhanced law degree program for her Law, Science, and Technology Certificate. In 2011, she obtained a BS in Psychology from ASU's College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
Insightful and analytical (she was a business analyst before lawyering), Banfield's understanding of child development and mental health concerns has benefited many of her clients. She understands the financial and emotional pressures her family law clients are under and the impact any party’s mental health can have on case progression.
A State Bar of Arizona member since 2011, Banfield practices domestic relations law exclusively and is a strong proponent ADR. Although she is equal parts counselor at law and trial attorney, she realizes her role is often one of guide. Thorough and deliberate with every court proceeding, her unique skill set pairs naturally with mediation in family law cases.
Rated 10-of-10 by Avvo, Inc., she is "Lead Counsel Rated in Family Law" (2015) and received the Avvo "Client’s Choice Award" (2015-2017). Banfield is a "Lawyer of Distinction" (2018) and "10 Best" Attorney (both the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys and National Academy of Family Law Attorneys 2019-2020).
No matter how challenging things appear to be for clients at the outset of the divorce process, Banfield has seen how the light at the end of the tunnel shines brightly for most people. For her, the greatest reward is in helping someone who really needs representation because, without a lawyer, that person could be treated very unfairly or be severely disadvantaged by the court system.
