Who was the first Hispanic-American to serve as U.S. Attorney General?

WRONG! While she is a prominent Hispanic-American legal figure, she was never U.S. Attorney General. She made history as the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice, appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009.

CORRECT! Alberto Gonzale s became the first Hispanic-American U.S. Attorney General when he was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2005. Before that, he served as White House Counsel from 2001 to 2005. As Attorney General, he played a key role in shaping legal policies during the post-9/11 era, though his tenure was marked by controversy, including the dismissal of U.S. attorneys.

WRONG! Although he has a strong legal background, including serving as California’s Attorney General and later as Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Biden, he was never U.S. Attorney General.

WRONG! He served as U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Obama and led the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ but was never Attorney General.
