PALM DESERT, CA—Dan Kohane, senior member of Hurwitz & Fine, P.C. and a Defense Counsel member of The Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel (FDCC), was honored with the Federation’s highest honor, the 2022 FDCC Lifetime Achievement Award. Kohane accepted the honor before a standing round of applause from Federation members on March 9 during the FDCC Winter Meeting in Palm Desert, Calif.
Each year the Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed on an individual who is deemed to have excelled in the contribution of public good, professionalism and fellowship in every facet of his or her life. The award recognizes FDCC members who are seen as giants in their legal communities as well as within the Federation and their communities.
FDCC Defense Counsel Member Dan McGrath of Hinshaw & Culbertson in Chicago served as Chair of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award Committee, which recommended Kohane for this distinction.
Kohane is a nationally recognized insurance coverage counselor and is a member of the American Law Institute and an adjunct Professor of Insurance Law at the Buffalo Law School. He was recently appointed and certified to the panel of Federal Mediators in the Western District of New York. He previously served as president of FDCC from August 2006 to July 2007 and has been a valued member of the organization since 1989.
