Jerry M. Markowitz Elected Vice President of Membership of the American Bankruptcy Institute

MIAMI, FL—Bankruptcy & Insolvency Attorney and Mediator Jerry M. Markowitz, Managing Shareholder of the law firm of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, has been elected to a two-year term as Vice President of Membership of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). He is also a member of ABI’s Executive Committee.

Markowitz is one of South Florida’s leading business and bankruptcy reorganization law practitioners; and business and bankruptcy mediators. He concentrates his practice in the areas of creditors’ and debtors’ rights, including workouts, bankruptcy, asset recovery, insolvency, receiverships, reorganization, restructuring and mediation. He is ranked in Chambers USA, was named to the inaugural 2020 Lawdragon 500 list of Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyer, is a 2021 Best Lawyer, a Top Lawyer in the 2021 South Florida Legal Guide, was named to the 2020 Top 100 Florida Super Lawyers list and to the Top 100 Miami Super Lawyers by Super Lawyers Magazine and was named to the 2020 Florida Trend Magazine Legal Elite Hall of Fame.

From 2013-2019, Markowitz participated as a faculty member in the ABI/St. John’s Bankruptcy Mediation Training in New York City, a collaboration among two leaders in the field of bankruptcy education and mediation training: ABI and St. John’s University Law School Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution. He is also the recipient of ABI’s 2018 Mark G. Stingley Leadership Award which recognizes a member who has demonstrated extraordinary support in the preceding year for the ABI Endowment Fund, created in 1989 to provide resources for research and education.
