Philip S. Olsen Serves as Contributing Author for ABA’s 2021-2022 Edition of Sales and Use Tax Deskbook

BOSTON, MA—Philip S. Olsen, a shareholder at Boston law firm Davis Malm, authored a chapter for the 35th (2021-2022) edition of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Sales and Use Tax Deskbook. Mr. Olsen was responsible for Chapter 22, “Massachusetts Sales & Use Taxes,” of the ABA compilation. This edition contains the key principles and positions of each state, including citations to pertinent statuses, regulations and case law, and important interpretive information from rulings, bulletins and other local lore.

Mr. Olsen is a tax attorney focusing on state and local tax consulting and litigation. He has over 25 years’ experience litigating and resolving major tax controversies before courts and administrative boards as well as discreetly resolving hundreds of cases short of trial. His experience spans state and local taxes, including corporate income, sales and use, personal income, estate, real and personal property, and unclaimed property. In addition to advocating for taxpayers on state level taxes, Mr. Olsen represents property owners and municipalities in local property tax appeals.
