STAMFORD, CT—Troutman Pepper Locke has added Reed Balmer as a partner in the firm’s Private Equity and Investment Funds Practice Group.
Balmer brings more than two decades of experience advising private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund managers in addition to independent sponsors, family offices, and institutional investors on fund formation, structuring, and regulatory compliance.
Balmer joins Troutman Pepper Locke from Finn Dixon & Herling, where he led the firm’s investment management practice.
Balmer advises both established and emerging managers launching their initial and successor funds, as well as independent sponsors, club funds, promise funds, and other vehicles raising capital for each of their investments. Balmer takes a strategy-driven approach to structuring, beginning each engagement by understanding the fund’s investment objectives and underlying assets before drafting terms, a methodology that applies across asset classes from private companies to real estate to commodities.
