About Brad Edwards

Brad Edwards is the founding partner of Edwards Pottinger. He is a nationally recognized Board Certified Civil Trial attorney who specializes in providing civil representation for children, survivors of sexual abuse, and victims of violent crimes. In 2018, he obtained a $71 million jury verdict on behalf of a client who was sexually abused on board a private yacht. This was the largest jury verdict in the United States obtained on behalf of a single survivor of sexual abuse. Other notable achievements include obtaining one of the Top 50 verdicts in the United States in 2015, 2016, and 2018 and two of the top Florida verdicts in 2011 and 2012. Brad is perhaps best known for representing more than 60 sex trafficking victims of Jeffrey Epstein.

Before entering private practice, Brad was a lead trial attorney at the Broward County State Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted violent criminals. Since then, he has devoted his practice and his life to fighting for children and victims of crime in state and federal courts across the country. Throughout his career, he has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients.

Despite his busy trial schedule, Brad provides hundreds of hours of pro bono services and educational presentations each year to Victims Advocate Services and victims’ rights groups throughout the country. For more than a decade, Brad pursued a precedent-setting case in federal court on a pro bono basis on behalf of victims who were sexually molested by well-connected billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. In February 2019, the judge on the case ruled in the victims’ favor, holding clearly that the government had violated the rights of Epstein’s victims under the Crime Victims’ Rights Act.

Brad’s professional peers have recognized him as a Top Rated Lawyer through the Martindale-Hubbell © Peer Review Rating system. According to Martindale-Hubbell, the “AV” rating of “Very High to Preeminent” legal ability is a testament to the highest level of professional excellence and unquestionable ethics. Brad has also been certified as a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

Brad has been profiled in The Best Lawyers in America and has been recognized by the National Trial Lawyers and SuperLawyers as being one of the best lawyers in the country. Since 2015, the National Association of Distinguished Counsel has recognized Brad as one of the Nation’s Top One Percent.

His competitive edge is evident in the way he tirelessly prepares his cases. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Brad was a standout high school quarterback as well as a nationally-ranked tennis player. He played collegiate tennis at the University of Florida and graduated with honors.

Brad currently serves on the board of the Broward County Justice Association and is a member of the following organizations: the American Board of Trial Advocates, the National Crime Victims Bar Association; the National Trial Lawyers Association; the Broward County Trial Lawyers; and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the New York Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the U.S. District Court, the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court, and the Middle District of Florida. He is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, and the District of Columbia.

In Need of a Sexual Abuse Attorney in New York City?

Suppose you or someone you love is a sexual abuse survivor. In that case, you need a sexual abuse attorney committed to pursuing the justice and compensation you deserve for your physical and emotional pain. Compassionate and trauma-informed legal representation can help survivors who are ready to stand up and hold their abusers accountable. Having an experienced sexual abuse lawyer by your side is essential for receiving the support and guidance you need during this difficult and critical time. Don't go through this alone. Instead, let an attorney advocate for you. Even if you aren't sure if you are ready to pursue a claim, you can speak to an attorney, and your conversation will remain confidential.

How a Sexual Abuse Attorney Can Help with Your Case

Sexual abuse is a horrific crime, often resulting in severe trauma for the survivor. If you are a survivor, you are likely struggling with physical, mental, and emotional injuries. You need to rest and recover instead of attempting to fight against the perpetrator or another party that shares some liability for the abuse. The last thing you want to do is face them to discuss the terms of a settlement or at trial or relive the abuse to investigate its circumstances. When you hire a sexual abuse lawyer in New York City, the good news is that you don't have to.

Your attorney can tell you more about your rights and options while sharing important advice about how they can proceed with your potential claim when you are ready. They will handle all aspects of your sexual abuse case so that you don't have to continually revisit the abuse, complete and file legal paperwork, or face your abuser in court. Your attorney can help you with the following:

·   Protect your interests

·   Gather crucial evidence

·   Identify the responsible parties

·   Determine the value of your non-economic damages

·   Hold the responsible parties accountable

·   Build a case against the perpetrator and any enablers

·   Handle any settlement negotiations

·   Represent you in court if a lawsuit becomes necessary

Hire a Sexual Abuse Attorney For Your Case in New York City

After suffering sexual abuse, you deserve compensation for your damages, including your pain and suffering. The offender deserves to go to jail and face the legal consequences of their unspeakable actions.

The best way to ensure both of these crucial steps occur is to hire a compassionate and experienced sexual abuse lawyer to be by your side during this often-difficult process. Your attorney can help you navigate the emotional ups and downs of a civil sexual abuse case and assist you in exercising your rights along the way.
