Attorney at Law Magazine sat down with Ariel Perez, the founder of AKAVEIL Technologies, to discuss his company and the IT industry. AKAVEIL Technologies is based in Cape Coral, Florida, but serves clients nationally and globally.

AALM: Tell us what first drew you to the technology industry.

AP: I have always been interested in technology ever since I was a kid. I started out doing site pages and break fix for home users. I then went to school and earned my bachelor’s degree in computer science and security. I’ve worked in the MSP (managed service provider) industry ever since. I launched AKAVEIL TECHNOLOGIES five years ago.

AALM: Why did you decide to launch AKAVEIL Technologies?

AP: I founded AKAVEIL Technologies on a set of core values. As such, we partner and build trusted relationships with our customers to listen, learn and serve them for the achievement of their goals and objectives. Technology solutions, products and services may define what we do, yet it alone, does not define who we are nor how you will benefit from working with us. I believe people are the most valued assets of any organization. That is one of the most rewarding aspects of running my business. I have the ability to offer job opportunities and stability to families. It is a great responsibility to the firm and to those who work for it.

AALM: What drew you to work with lawyers? What do you enjoy most about your work with them?

AP: When we started out, I knew we needed to develop a niche for our firm. The legal industry is greatly underserved by MSPs. We have in-house legal experts who understand the industry, so it seemed to be a natural fit. We understand their pain points and know how to address them.

AALM: How has IT support evolved the most over the course of your career?

AP: IT has evolved in great lengths. When I started out as a regular engineer most of our customers had break/fix issues. Today, most of our customers enjoy the cloud infrastructure. Support has changed as we no longer have to be onsite to address any issues.

AALM: How do you make implementing technology simpler for law firms?

AP: The legal industry is notorious for being slow to change, especially in technology. We make it easy for our clients as we’re able to bring new ways to collaborate and increase productivity with the tools they use today. Almost everyone uses Microsoft. We have designed the tools to work in their favor with little change and overhead time.

AALM: Tell us about one of your most exciting projects.

AP: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) implementation for our customers is a game changer. It offers more productivity, security, mobility, and scalability.

AALM: What are some of your hobbies outside of the office? How do you unwind?

AP: I love to spend time with my family. I have four beautiful kids and a lovely wife. I also love sports, fishing and travel.
