If these faces look familiar, it’s because Bonnie and Billy, both highly experienced and well-respected figures in the Triangle court reporting community, launched DepoScripts last year, drawing on their decades of expertise and industry knowledge. In June 2024, their daughter, Hillary, with her own wealth of experience, joined the team, further enhancing their family-owned business and solidifying their commitment to providing top-tier court reporting services.
The North Carolina-based company serves law firms locally and across the country with court reporting, legal videography, and transcription services. For matters outside of North Carolina, DepoScripts has a network of national resources to support clients.
The company provides services to clients ranging from small law firms to AmLaw 100 firms. “We are delivering small business accessibility with national resources,” said Hillary. “What really sets us apart is that we answer the phone; we answer emails; our team is prompt with responses. We build tight-knit relationships with our clients and want them to feel like we are an extension of their team.”
“We are very focused on servicing our clients and providing a personalized service. As owners, we are actively involved in the business,” said Billy.
Specialized Service
“We determine which court reporter is best for a specific case type,” said Bonnie. “We have court reporters who have experience with medical malpractice, personal injury, commercial, business litigation, construction, etc. When our clients have complex or highly technical depositions or hearings, we understand which reporters to assign based on skillset, so the best possible record is produced.”
“We provide a variety of deposition technology and specialty services, from real-time transcript streaming to exhibit presentation support and deposition summaries,” said Hillary. “When clients are in need of out-of-the-box solutions, we work hard to ensure they have what they need to accomplish their goals.”
Addressing Reporter’s Needs
The court reporting industry has been grappling with a shortage of skilled professionals in recent years. Bonnie addresses this challenge by leveraging her hands-on experience to connect with and retain top-tier reporters.
“As a certified verbatim reporter (CVR) and Texas certified shorthand reporter (CSR), I have a deep understanding of the demands and realities of the job,” said Bonnie. “I’m actively in the field, taking depositions and hearings, which allows me to relate directly to our reporters and their needs. This firsthand experience enables me to foster stronger relationships and ensure we provide the support they need to succeed as freelance court reporters.”
About the Players
Bonnie has been a North Carolina certified paralegal for nearly two decades, and a certified reporter since 2020. She was a trial paralegal before founding and operating a litigation support company for 15 years. “From my experience, I know that litigators, paralegals and legal assistants need professionalism, dependability and timely delivery of services.”
Billy has been a certified legal video specialist since 2014. In his prior 26-year career, he was a mechanical HVAC designer. “My background as an engineer taught me the importance of precision, accuracy and attention to detail to meet the stringent demands of the litigation marketplace.”
Hillary has nearly 15 years of experience in litigation support. “I specialize in developing customized solutions for even the most complex cases, ensuring every detail is handled with precision, and the human touch that assures our clients are getting the best service possible.”
DepoScripts’ team includes a nationwide network of skilled court reporters and videographers, supported by experienced administrative specialists. “We have an incredible team, and it’s clear that they are truly dedicated to what they do. Their commitment to providing exceptional service and making the deposition process as smooth as possible is evident,” said Bonnie.
