There are 11 Inns of Court in North Texas, and they all come together for a joint meeting annually in January. The inns take turns organizing joint meetings, and this year, it was Mac Taylor Inn’s turn.
The Mac Taylor Inn, the largest inn in the country, set out for the January 24 joint meeting to be the largest inn meeting in U.S. history. The meeting exceeded all expectations, with 400 inn members attending, including nearly 50 judges.
The evening began with a margarita contest and ended with an awards presentation. Rodney Gilstrap, chief judge of the Eastern District of Texas, drove in from Marshall to accept his award. Judge Martin Hoffman, who will become the Mac Taylor president in June, was in charge of organizing the record-setting meeting. He was assisted by current Mac Taylor President Chad Ruback and a stellar committee of rising stars.
