The Lawyers of Bradshaw & Bryant: Championing Justice

For more than three decades, attorneys at Bradshaw & Bryant have been fighting for justice and championing the cause of victims throughout Minnesota and beyond. “Justice for the Injured” is more than just a catchy slogan, it’s a solemn promise to those who have been hurt or victimized.

Managing Partner Micheal Bryant had always aspired to a career in the political arena, inspired by the well-known politician Huey “The Kingfish” Long.

“I went to law school with the full intent that I would have a political career one day,” he confides. “Once I began practicing law, I just never did. I love my work, I know it’s important, and I receive tremendous satisfaction knowing I’m making a positive impact on the lives of families and individuals.”

Taking classes at night, Bryant sailed through the four-year program at William Mitchell College of Law in three, winning virtually every competition and completing his studies. While maintaining a robust academic schedule, he also found time to clerk for a local law firm in the Twin Cities during
the day.

Once he graduated, Bryant wasted no time launching his legal career. “I was sworn in on a Friday and in court Monday morning,” he says.

He joined with John Bradshaw, and they hit the ground running, bringing their focus and determination to the practice of law. Four short years later, in 1996, the firm officially became Bradshaw & Bryant.

Since then, Bryant has built a reputation as a formidable trial attorney, championing the rights of injured individuals and their families in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, traumatic brain injuries, and more.

“I love being in court and try three to five cases a year. In my busiest year, I tried 17 cases all over Minnesota,” Bryant says. “The flip side, of course, is when you occasionally lose. I always feel that I’ve let my client down.”

Beyond the courtroom, Bryant is a prominent voice in shaping Minnesota’s personal injury laws. Having testified before the legislature, he fights to safeguard the rights of injury victims and ensure that laws serve the best interests of the public. His contributions extend to legal scholarship as well—he is the editor of the fifth and sixth editions of The Practitioner’s Guide to No-Fault (UM/UIM), a key resource for attorneys navigating uninsured and underinsured motorist claims.

Bryant’s legal acumen and dedication have earned him numerous accolades. He is a certified trial lawyer by both the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Minnesota State Bar Association, has been recognized as a top consumer lawyer, and has repeatedly been named a Top 40 Personal Injury Super Lawyer. His success, however, is not just measured in awards but in the countless clients whose lives he has positively impacted through his unwavering advocacy.

The Start of the Dream Team

Like Bryant, Joe Crumley thrives in the courtroom. His passion for advocating for injured individuals and their families is matched only by his commitment to shaping and improving laws in his state.

“While I was clerking, Joe was working in a law firm across the street and already had a solid reputation for being a leader in teaching no-fault law in Minnesota,” Bryant says. “Then around 19 years ago, we had a lawyer leave. And, at the time, Joe was on his own and doing quite well. He had just settled a couple of big cases. I reached out to him saying, ‘Look, I have all these cases, and I need another traveler.’”

It was 2006 and Joe Crumley merged his practice with Bradshaw & Bryant and a dream team became a reality.

“Joe plays the biggest role in doing things that no one else could,” Bryant says. “If for some reason I can’t do something, I know Joe will always step in and handle it with panache. He’s made a tremendous difference here.”

An unparalleled litigator, Crumley has achieved remarkable success from the very start of his career. In his first trial, a Hennepin County jury awarded six times the amount initially offered by the insurance company. Since then, he has secured the largest verdict in Minnesota history for a shoulder injury and, alongside Jim Schwebel, the state’s highest award for an ankle injury. He successfully concluded Minnesota’s largest motorcycle injury settlement, securing $1.5 million.

As dedicated advocates and experienced litigators, the attorneys at the firm provide clients with the passion and skill required for successful resolutions. With a practice focused exclusively on personal injury and criminal defense, they are well-equipped to represent individuals facing the most challenging circumstances. They recognize the profound impact that a sudden injury, the loss of a loved one, or a criminal charge can have on individuals and their families. New partner, Christy Thorson, is a seasoned personal injury attorney with 14 years of experience and has been a valued member of the firm since 2016. In addition to representing clients in personal injury cases, she serves as an arbitrator for automobile no-fault cases through the American Arbitration Association (AAA). A member of the AAA No-Fault Standing Committee, she has played a key role in training new arbitrators.

Thorson is also actively involved in the Minnesota Association for Justice and the Stearns/Benton Bar Association. As a participant in Women Trial Lawyers, she has shared her expertise on no-fault law at the association’s annual conference.

“Christy has really grown here,” Bryant says. “She had a great verdict a couple of months ago. She keeps getting better all the time.”

Sean Sullivan is a dedicated Minnesota criminal defense attorney known for his aggressive advocacy and unwavering commitment to protecting his client’s rights. He represents individuals throughout the Twin Cities metro area and across greater Minnesota, providing strategic and effective legal defense.

“A couple of our criminal lawyers have gone on to become judges and now we have Sean who is an outstanding criminal lawyer and essentially runs our Golden Valley office,” says Bryant.

Tucker Isaacson is a passionate attorney who focuses his practice on both personal injury and criminal defense. He excels at research and writing. He was admitted to practice in 2020 and is excited to prove himself as a new attorney.

“Since joining as a summer intern, Tucker has always brought critical thinking and writing skills to make the firm better,” Bryant says.

The firm’s newest lawyer, Amber R. McCullough, joined the team in January. She practices personal injury litigation, mediation and no-fault arbitration. She also represents incapacitated individuals in commitment, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.

Finding good people is a challenge—keeping them is even harder. One of the clearest indicators of a positive work environment is employee retention, and by that measure, Bradshaw & Bryant sets a high standard. The firm’s support staff alone has an average tenure of 12 to 15 years, a testament to both the workplace culture and the dedication of the team.

“I cannot tell you how much I value these people, and their consistency makes a real difference for our clients,” he says. “Much of our success is due to our support staff. Our paralegals are not only extremely talented and knowledgeable, but just as importantly, they understand how to treat our clients. They are empathetic, deeply attuned to what these victims are going through, and genuinely committed to helping them.

“Everyone is important,” adds Bryant. “You know, your receptionist could be your most important person because if they do a bad job people won’t come through the door.”

The team at Bradshaw & Bryant remain committed to providing compassionate, results-driven representation. Whether advocating for a client in court or fighting for legislative change, Bryant continues to embody the principles that first drew him to the legal profession – justice, advocacy, and the relentless pursuit of fairness for those who need it most.

Commitment to Caring

With nearly 35 years of experience, we asked Bryant what legacy he hopes to leave behind. After a moment of reflection, he thoughtfully responds:

“I would want to be remembered for genuinely caring about people. You know, I’ve always wanted the firm to be known for being helpful—whether to clients, other lawyers, or anyone who needed us. Over time, we’ve heard some truly wonderful things from so many people.

“You know, John Bradshaw recently passed away, and the number of people reaching out—saying their first trial was with him and how well he treated them—it’s incredibly moving. Those are the moments you hold close to your heart. It’s just amazing, and to be honest, very gratifying.”

Anyone who questions Bryant’s sincerity or commitment need only look at a recent magazine article where he openly shares his personal cell phone number (320-250-5585). Few would take such a step—let alone an attorney—but for Bryant, accessibility and genuine care for others are simply part of who he is.
