“Fighting for justice on behalf of wrongfully injured clients is a worthwhile way to make a living,” relates Miami attorney Robert Boyers, who has excelled at doing just that for the past 24 years,

This isn’t too surprising, though, since you could say that the law is in his blood. Boyers grew up around two lawyers who cared deeply about the people they served. “My maternal grandfather was a brilliant lawyer and my father is a trial lawyer and former appellate judge in New York. I used to watch him in court and then spend hours talking with him and my grandfather about the law and their cases. In fact, my father is 87, but still happily goes to work every day because there is nothing else he’d rather be doing. Both men have and continue to inspire me by their example. I am grateful that they passed their love of the law on to me.”

What drives Boyers, aside from an innate competitive energy? An obvious compassion for the clients he represents. “There simply is no way a trial lawyer can persuasively convey his seriously injured client’s suffering to others unless the trial lawyer understands it himself,” he said. “Opening your mind and emotions to what your client has been forced to endure is, at best, difficult but it’s essential when you’re representing clients with physically devastating injuries whose lives have been shattered.”

Boyers represents clients in catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, products liability, negligent security, maritime negligence and qui tam cases. “I have had the privilege of representing many good people who have had terribly painful things happen to them and their family members. Helping deserving clients to achieve justice in a courtroom is both humbling and immensely gratifying. Our cases, also, often expose and put an end to the unsafe condition or course of conduct that injured our client so that others in the community are made safer. Knowing that you may have helped to prevent future harm in addition to obtaining desperately needed compensation for your client makes all the hard work we do worthwhile,” adds Boyers.

Boyers has experienced a high degree of success and has achieved numerous multimillion dollar recoveries for his clients who hail from all over the United States and sometimes from abroad. He is admitted to practice law before the state bars of Florida, New York and Connecticut as well as the federal bars of Florida and New York. A long time AV rated attorney, he has been repeatedly named one of the Best Lawyers in America for personal injury and medical malpractice, a Florida Super Lawyer (including recognition as a Top 100 Super Lawyer in Miami), a member of Florida’s Legal Elite, one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Florida by the National Trial Lawyers, a Top Lawyer by the South Florida Legal Guide and was previously named a Legal Impact Leader by Business Leader Magazine.

Boyers currently sits on the board of directors of the Dade County Bar Association and is a member of its civil litigation committee. He also serves as chair of Florida bar grievance committee “D” of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Miami- Dade County. Boyers sits on the civil rights committee of the Anti-Defamation League. He is a past-president of the Miami- Dade Justice Association and a past director of the Florida Justice Association.

Boyers writes and lectures frequently on civil trial matters and is the author of the 2010 supplement to the treatise, “Proving Mental and Emotional Injuries,” James Legal Publishing, in which he also authored chapters on effectively litigating and trying cases involving traumatic brain injury.

“One of the great things about my work is that every client and every case is different and there are always new and exciting challenges just around the corner. I feel fortunate to be doing work that I love and care about.”
