Garrett Olexa, an attorney with Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, P.L.C., was appointed as one of the newest members of the Honorary Commanders Program at Luke Air Force Base. This distinction was presented by Brigadier General Gregory Kreuder, Commander of the 56th Fighter Wing at the Luke Air Base. Attorney at Law Magazine spoke with Olexa about this recognition.

AALM: How does it feel to receive this honor?

GJO: I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as an honorary commander at Luke Air Force Base. I look forward to learning more about the Air Force mission and the role Luke Air Force Base plays in our nation’s defense.

AALM: Why do you think you were one of the few recipients of this honorary title?

GJO: As someone who lives, works and volunteers in the West Valley, I know that I can continue to help foster the relationship between Luke Air Force Base and members of the community. Jennings, Strouss, and Salmon, P.L.C. has been well-known for its rich heritage, commitment to community, and long-lasting relationships. I am also a graduate of Leadership West, a leadership program that provided me with greater insights into West Valley treasures and motivated me to continue to make a positive impact in the community.

AALM: The article describes you as “an avid supporter of the Luke Air Force Base’s mission of uniting the military and local communities,” could you elaborate on this? Offer examples?

GJO: Yes, I have tremendous respect for the sacrifice those in the military make and the freedoms they protect. I think it is important for community leaders to learn the history and heritage of our military and the positive impact Luke Air Force Base has on this State and the West Valley in particular.

AALM: How do you think we could better serve and support our military families?

GJO: I think it starts with showing the servicemen and women and their families gratitude for their service and sacrifice, then looking for ways to support them and their families. Websites such as https://soldiersangels.org and https://bluestarfam.org list numerous ways to serve and show support for our military families.
