The Minnesota American Indian Bar Association (MAIBA) held its 25th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament at The Meadows at Mystic Lake on Thursday, July 15, 2021. The golf tournament supports the MAIBA Law Student Scholarship which is awarded the Native American law students attending one of the three law schools in Minnesota. This year MAIBA raised over $10,000 for its scholarship!
Fourteen teams competed and 12 sponsors donated at the platinum level. In addition to the teams and sponsors, several special guests and volunteers made an appearance at this year’s event. Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan made an appearance welcoming golfers and spoke to the importance to support Native American lawyers and to increase diversity in the judiciary. Senator Mary Kunesh, Commissioner Janet Johnson (Bureau of Mediation Services), and Shannon Geshick (Executive Director, Minnesota Indian Affairs Council) also volunteered and spent the day helping out on the course.
MAIBA would like to thank all of the teams, sponsors, and volunteers for supporting this year’s tournament and making it a success! MAIBA hopes to see everyone back next July to support this wonderful scholarship for Native American law students.
