Jonathan A. Harris Joins Wiggin and Dana’s Life Sciences Practice Group

HARTFORD, CT – Full-service law firm Wiggin and Dana LLP is pleased to announce that patent attorney Jonathan A. Harris has joined the firm’s Hartford, Connecticut office as a partner in the Life Sciences Practice Group.

A leading patent lawyer, Harris focuses his practice on helping clients protect, license and monetize their most valuable intellectual property assets. He is a member of the firm’s Life Sciences practice group, where he focuses on negotiating and drafting sophisticated patent licenses and strategic alliances. In addition, he advises established and emerging life science companies on mission-critical patent matters, including litigation, due diligence, freedom to operate opinions, and prosecution.

The firm’s life sciences clients operate in dynamic industries around the world that face unique legal and business challenges. For more than three decades, Wiggin and Dana’s Life Sciences team has managed complex matters for clients including large multinational pharmaceutical companies, world-class universities, and emerging biotechnology medical device companies.

In his more than two decades of IP law experience, Harris has prepared and prosecuted more than 200 patent applications. He also has served as co-lead or lead trial counsel in many actions in the generic drug approval process, including for Cialis® (tadalafil), Diclegis® (doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride), Focalin® (dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride), Ritalin® (methylphenidate hydrochloride), Trilipix® (fenofibric acid), and Zometa® (zoledronic acid).

Prior to joining Wiggin and Dana, Harris was a partner in a highly regarded IP and antitrust boutique, where he represented leaders in the life sciences industry in patent prosecution, licensing and litigation, serving as lead or co-lead trial counsel in numerous patent and trademark district court actions and inter partes review proceedings. Harris has also handled patent appeals, re-examinations and interferences.

Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Duke University and his law degree and MBA, cum laude, from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
