Phelps Dunbar LLP Partner Mike Hurst Joins International Association of Defense Counsel

JACKSON, MS—The International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) has announced that Mike Hurst, a partner at Phelps Dunbar LLP in Jackson, Mississippi, has accepted an invitation to join the IADC, the preeminent invitation-only global legal organization for attorneys who represent corporate and insurance interests.

Mr. Hurst focuses his practice on litigation, white collar defense, government and internal investigations, and regulatory matters. Previously, he served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi from 2017 to 2021, and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney from 2006 to 2015.

Hurst also previously served in various legal and policy roles in both government and nonprofit arenas and worked for a law firm in Washington, D.C. During his time as a federal prosecutor, he received numerous awards from various organizations, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Internal Revenue Service.

Currently a member of the executive board of the Unite Mississippi Foundation, Mr. Hurst previously served as president of the Mississippi Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and president of the Greater Jackson Law Enforcement Officers Association.

Mr. Hurst received his J.D. (with honors) from The George Washington University Law School and his Bachelor of Arts (magna cum laude) from Millsaps College.
